CMS - Content Management Systems

Using content management systems, or CMS for short, is now standard practice for professionally managing a website. There are two main reasons why content management systems have become established for managing web presences:

1. A content management system dramatically reduces the time required to manage a website.

2. Many content management systems are so-called open source, meaning, among other things, that they can be used free of charge for both private and business websites.

Just a few years ago, when content management systems were not yet commonplace, a webmaster was needed to update content on a website or add new content. The webmaster was the person familiar with the HTML/CSS code of the website. Thanks to content management systems, today anyone who can operate a computer can edit or replace text and images on websites. Knowledge of HTML and CSS is no longer required for this.

Which Content Management System Should You Use?

Which content management system you should use for your web presence depends on the type of website. If you want to create a blog, for example, WordPress is recommended – a very easy-to-use CMS. Also excellent for text and image content is the CMS Drupal, which requires a bit more familiarization. A content management system that is very easy to learn, and with which even beginners can quickly achieve results, is Joomla, while TYPO3 may initially seem somewhat overwhelming for beginners, but is considered by many to be the most effective, flexible and extensible CMS.
